CADFA is officially 11

CADFA is actually over eleven years old, having got going in a meeting at the end of 2003, but our official launch date was 4th October 2005 when Ken Loach, Julie Christie and Ahdaf Soueif attended a packed meal in Daphne’s Restaurant, Camden Town, and the organisation was launched. Durring the next year, our first group visits to Palestine and from Palestine took place, and we became a charity in 2005 (with our certificate dated Ja20151010_194311[1]nuary 2006).

That all seemed so long ago at our eleventh birthday party on 10th October this year, when friends new and old joined us for music, food and good company in the Amos Trust’s headquarters, St Clement’s Eastcheap. Guests included people from our youth group, women’s group, ex-EVS volunteers – and even some people who will have special reason to remember us – Five of the guests had found husbands or wives through CADFA’ds activities – we wish them lots of happiness.

Many thanks to the SOAS Arabic Band for great music! And a special thanks to Annika for the cake! This followed our AGM when a talk by Abed from Abu Dis gave us very much more reason for action. Now we are off into our twelfth (or more) year, planning to work very hard for human rights in Palestine.
