Info on the autumn visit of Palestinian youth to the UK

More Palestinian youth visitors coming to the UK

in October 2024!

Planning is well underway for our next Beyond the Checkpoints visit of Palestinian youth on an exchange with young people in the UK in October 2024. This follows an exciting youth visit in February- March – See that project report HERE. These visits are part of the Building Hope project that we run with partners across the country.

Ten young people and four leaders have applied now for visas and our group of partners across the country have met on planning training sessions and are now preparing a variety of activities with schools and youth clubs in Bradford, Blackburn, Derby, Birmingham, North London, East London and Cornwall. There will also be a number of public events.

Frequently asked questions…

Why do you organise youth visits from Palestine? To allow an exchange between young people in both countries and to raise the issue of human rights in Palestine more widely,

Have you done this before? So many times since 2006! Dozens of visits, hundreds of visitors, thousands of people involved and affected by these visits!

How can you organise youth visits in this time of genocide? These are young people from the West Bank and Jerusalem, where things for Palestinians are also very bad, but not from Gaza. For them, travel though difficult is not always impossible. We were also very worried and postponed a visit from October 2023 till Feb-March (when it went very well, see the report). The problems are widening now as Israel seems to be pressing for a regional war – Number one is safety so we will keep our eyes open and if in doubt will seek advice.

How do you raise funds for the visit? Through the shared efforts of CADFA members, partner groups and individuals. DO HELP IF YOU CAN! Here is a Just Giving page but we would appreciate other initiatives too

How can our group be involved? The Building Hope project currently reaches to many areas in the country (north-west, Midlands, Wales, London, south-west) and welcomes the participation of new groups. The programme for October 2024 has been made but if you would like to discuss another visit or activity, please be in touch! Contact@cadfa.org

How can I personally be involved? Ask CADFA or your local group about public meetings and what voluntary help they might need . Join CADFA or your local group for information, trainings etc going forward.

Where is the programme? .A list of public events will be put here in good time.
